Mountain Club Host & Event Coordinator

Full Time

Mountain Club is Queenstown's only global members' club, a community built for leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers who want to connect, collaborate, and do things differently.

We run over 300 events a year across two Queenstown venues, from intimate industry talks to member-hosted celebrations and more. Behind every great event and every seamless day at the club, there's someone who made it all look effortless. That's this role.

The Role

This is a dual-purpose position that blends two distinct areas of responsibility.

As a Mountain Club Host, you're the first person our members see when they walk through the door. You set the tone making great coffee, running the bar, keeping the space immaculate, and ensuring every member feels genuinely welcome. You're across the details, from room bookings to restocking, and you take pride in the kind of hospitality that people remember.

As an Event Coordinator, you're the person who makes sure our events land. You'll build run sheets, coordinate logistics, manage suppliers, and be hands-on through setup, delivery, and pack-down. You won't be coming up with the event concepts, that sits with the wider team, but you'll be the one who ensures every detail is sorted and every event runs smoothly.

What You'll Be Doing

- Welcoming members and guests with warm, genuine hospitality across both venues
- Managing host desk duties, room bookings, and day-to-day venue operations
- Running barista and bar service to a consistently high standard
- Creating detailed event run sheets and coordinating all logistics; catering, AV, equipment, suppliers, etc...
- Leading event setup, execution, and pack-down
- Serving as the on-site duty manager for licensed events
- Capturing event content for internal use and socials
- Occasionally supporting the wider events team on special projects

What You'll Bring

- A valid NZ Duty Manager's Certificate (or LCQ Certificate with the ability to apply)
- At least two years' experience in hospitality, including cafe and bar work
- Confidence making great coffee. Cocktail experience is a bonus
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple events and priorities
- A calm head when things don't go to plan
- Excellent communication and a natural ability to connect with people
- Initiative, flexibility, and a real passion for delivering outstanding experiences
- A commitment to living in Queenstown for a minimum of 12 months

The Details

This is a full-time role with hours that shift depending on the event calendar. It's primarily Monday to Friday, with a couple of weekday evenings in the mix (still finishing by 9 typically). You'll work across both of our Queenstown locations.
