MY HR — Managing Medical Incapacity Workshop

Practical, in-person HR guidance for people leaders who need to manage sickness, long‑term absence and return-to-work situations with care, clarity and confidence.

When an employee is frequently sick, recovering from an injury, or can no longer do their role for medical reasons, your first instinct is to support them. Over time, however, it can be hard to know where your obligations begin and end - and how to keep the business running fairly and safely.

Join HR expert Sylvie Thrush Marsh for a practical, interactive workshop designed for small business owners, managers and supervisors. You’ll get clear guidance on what good practice looks like at every stage: managing sick leave, handling planned and unplanned long‑term absences, supporting effective return‑to‑work plans and, where necessary, conducting lawful and respectful terminations.

What to expect:

  • Clear, actionable steps you can use straight away
  • Real‑world scenarios and practical problem solving
  • Time for questions and tailored advice for the issues you face
  • Tools to help you document, communicate and make defensible decisions

Who should attend

  • Business owners
  • People leaders, managers and supervisors
  • Anyone responsible for managing staff

What you’ll learn

  • What sick leave is for — and what it isn’t
  • How to spot and respond to potential sick‑leave abuse
  • How to manage planned and unexpected long‑term absences
  • How to design and support effective return‑to‑work plans
  • When temporary accommodations are appropriate and how to offer them
  • When termination may be necessary — and how to approach it correctly and fairly.

Led by Sylvie Thrush Marsh - HR expert with hands‑on experience supporting organisations through complex medical incapacity and absence-management issues. Format In-person, workshop-style session with practical guidance and Q&A.
