The MICHELIN Guide arrived in New Zealand this year, and it put Queenstown firmly on the international culinary map. Essence was awarded two MICHELIN Stars, and Amisfield, Rātā and Sherwood each received one.

We’re bringing the people behind those restaurants together to talk about what this recognition means personally, professionally and for Queenstown as a hospitality destination.

The panel will explore:

  • The MICHELIN moment, what the recognition meant personally and professionally, and what has changed since the announcement
  • What a MICHELIN Star actually means to the people behind the restaurant, beyond the accolade itself
  • The role of local produce, Central Otago and our unique sense of place in telling the Queenstown food story
  • Whether MICHELIN will raise expectations and standards across the wider hospitality industry

Facilitated by Paddy Kluts and recorded live for the Mountain Club Podcast, the evening celebrates what’s been achieved and opens up a conversation about the opportunities and challenges that come with this level of international recognition. It’s a relaxed format, with an audience from across hospitality, tourism and business. Limited spots available. We’d love to have you in the room.
