James Bayly is a Queenstown-based AI product engineer and technical founder, formerly co-founder and CTO of 8ai. He is running a four-part meetup series within our AI Series, built for software engineers, tech leads, DevOps/SREs and test engineers who have moved past AI autocomplete and are now building agents, custom tooling and automated workflows into how they ship code.

In this second session, we dive deep into Deep Implementation & Agentic Coding. Focussing on implementation of code, this interactive workshop brings peers together to discuss and demonstrate how they handle complex code generation and execution.

Covering:
Context Window Engineering & Codebase Indexing.
Managing repository-level rule files, system instructions, dynamic context maps, and full-codebase semantic indexing.
Greenfield Scaffolding vs. Legacy Refactoring.
Agentic Loops & Test-Driven Development (TDD).
Model Selection & Developer Flow.

Held in a small group of 12 in the Five Mile board room, bring your laptop and be ready to show how you're duct-taping it all together.
