LIVE PODCAST Electrify: Powering Queenstown’s Future
We’re hosting a live Mountain Club podcast event, Electrify, on Friday 15 May from 7:30-9:00pm, and we would love to invite you to join us.

What does it take to electrify a region, not just in theory, but in practice?

Join us at Mountain Club for a live podcast conversation that cuts straight to the heart of Queenstown’s energy future. This is where bold ideas meet real-world infrastructure, and where the people shaping the system sit down to unpack what comes next.

On the mic, we bring together two voices leading the charge.

Richard Fletcher, CEO of Aurora Energy, is responsible for the electricity distribution network powering Otago. Based in Wānaka, with Aurora’s growing presence in Frankton, Richard sits at the centre of a rapidly evolving system. From enabling flexible energy across homes and businesses to backing local innovation like vehicle-to-grid trials and increased solar export limits, Aurora is quietly reshaping how energy flows through our region.

Alongside him is Mike Casey, entrepreneur, orchardist, and CEO of Rewiring Aotearoa. Mike has electrified every machine on his Central Otago cherry farm, proving that the shift away from fossil fuels is not just possible, it is profitable. His work is helping accelerate electrification across the motu, turning homes and farms into smarter, cleaner, and more resilient energy systems.

Together, they will explore what it would take for Queenstown to become the most electrified destination in the world. Expect an honest look at the opportunities, the trade-offs, and the quirks of a system in transition.

This is not a future-facing conversation. It is happening now.

Pull up a chair, meet the people behind the grid, and be part of the conversation shaping what comes next. Where bold connections lead to big ideas.

Mountain Club is a private network of ambitious founders, operators, and investors building high-growth companies across Aotearoa.
